The island of Kythera

Kythera, a picturesque and unspoiled island located off the southern tip of the Peloponnese in Greece, is renowned for its diverse landscapes, encompassing lush valleys, serene beaches with warm turquoise waters, and idyllic villages. This hidden gem, considered one of the seven Ionian islands, has a rich history and natural beauty. Kythera enjoys a pleasant Mediterranean climate characterized by mild, wet winters and hot, dry summers.

Kythera, the place where the Aegean meets the Ionian Sea has been inhabited since ancient times and has the oldest sanctuary dedicated to the Greek goddess Aphrodite. Through the 19th century, it was a trade crossroads of several civilizations and cultures, including Greek, Venetian, and Ottoman.

Modern-day Kythera remains unspoiled thanks to being off the beaten path and thus avoiding mass tourism.

Our Story

Our family’s olive grove has been biodynamically cultivated since its planting in the mid-20th century. The fifty-five olive trees were historically harvested, the olives pressed, and the resulting olive oil gifted to family and friends, with the remainder sold locally. More recently, we decided to introduce our olive oil to the US market, with the associated profits reinvested into the planting and care of hundreds of olive saplings which we hope will increase our production in future years.

In addition, given our in-depth knowledge of the local Kytherian agricultural community, we have sought out the highest quality and most natural local products to add to our offering. As such, we are proud to share the absolute finest Kytherian thyme honey and sea salt with you. Both of these products are reputed to be among the best in all of Greece, and we would argue, the world.
