Description
We are proud to introduce our family’s estate olive oil, originating from the Greek island of Kythera.
Kythera is situated south of the Peloponnese, straddling the Aegean and Ionian seas. Lying off the beaten path, the island remains completely unspoiled. In ancient Greek mythology, Kythera was said to be the island of celestial Aphrodite, the Goddess of love. Our olive grove is located on the idyllic eastern shore in an area named Kaladi, which features a wonderful micro-climate where olive trees thrive thanks to plentiful sun and warm temperature. https://www.kythera.gr/en
Harvest date: December 15, 2024
Notes: The 2024 harvest was once again modest due to the vagaries of mother nature, including above average temperatures and arid conditions, as well as being an off-crop year. Note: The olive tree is widely known for its strong tendency for biennia bearing, which severely affects the fruit yield from year to year. Nevertheless, the resulting olive oil has a wonderful earthy, nutty, and peppery flavor profile, with a low 0.3 level of acidity. We suggest pairing it with freshly baked sourdough bread, a fresh tomato and basil salad, or perhaps drizzled over grilled fish.
